How Did Elvis Die

Elvis Presley died on August 16, 1977 at the age of 42 at his Graceland home in Memphis, Tennessee. The preliminary autopsy findings indicated that the cause of death was cardiac arrhythmia. Elvis had been suffering from liver damage, high blood pressure, an enlarged colon and emphysema. Doctors said he died of a heart attack, likely brought on by his addiction to prescription barbiturates.

It is also believed that Elvis was sitting on the toilet, straining very hard to have a bowel movement — a maneuver that put a great amount of pressure on his heart and aorta. Thus, he likely died of a massive heart attack and keeled over onto the floor.
