Similarly, the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC) in the United States reports that approximately **90%** of adult rape victims are women, and approximately **99%** of perpetrators of rape are male.
Moreover, when men are victims of sexual assault (an estimated one in 71 men, and one in six boys), **93 percent** reported their abuser was a man.
It is important to note that these statistics are not meant to imply that all men are perpetrators of sexual violence. Rather, they highlight the fact that sexual violence is a pervasive problem in our society and that it is disproportionately perpetrated by men.
